In 2009, a Trillium grant was approved with the support of Community Living and Trent University. Read on to discover how beneficial this grant truly was!

In 2009, a trillium grant was approved with the support of Community Living and Trent University and our “Blueboxing at Trent” program was launched! The goal of the program is to assist the University to divert waste from land-fill with continued environmental stewardship. Participants are on-site at Trent from Monday to Friday and dedicate a few hours a day to help Trent become greener. 16 years of collaboration between Community Living Trent Highlands and Trent University has led to a partnership rooted in waste diversion, inclusion, and innovation.

Through the Blueboxing at Trent Program, Community Living volunteers make an incredible impact daily on Campus. From collecting batteries and printer cartridges for recycling to helping make convocation bottled water free, supporting dining hall diversion, running a candy wrapper recycling program, and hosting weekly recycling training games, their contributions are invaluable.

On February 4, 2025, the group came together to celebrate! Participants throughout the years were given certificates and able to see some faces from earlier years. Congratulations to this remarkable legacy and striving towards an even greener future.
