Letter to Friends & Families: Latest update on Covid & its service impacts

To CLTH Families and Friends,

The nights are longer, and the temperature is dropping, and the pandemic has reached yet another stage in its evolution at CLTH.  There remains many safety features and protections in place for our community homes as we work to keep the virus from entering our homes.  Direct support professionals continue to wear PPE and continue to work hard each day to come up with new and creative ways to spend time both in the home and safely in community.

At this time, it has been mandated by the province that CLTH like many other workplaces have a vaccination policy in place.  At CLTH we are encouraging all staff to be fully vaccinated.  Our policy states that all staff will be fully vaccinated, and if they are not, they will undergo Rapid Antigen Testing twice each week. This has been a difficult journey, please know that safety remains steadfastly our primary consideration.

Our Community Participation Support programs have opened with many safety measures in place and require that people served are fully vaccinated to attend.  This has been a bright spot over the past weeks, the excitement and joy of people returning to activities and people that they enjoy spending time with.

The restrictions and safety measures feel heavy largely due to the fact that we have been carrying them for so long.  Numbers in Ontario of COVID 19 cases remain hopeful and as an agency we have not lost hope that some pandemic measures can soon ease.  Huge thanks, as ever, to all direct support professionals for ongoing commitment and hard work to make days great for people, to our supporters and families, thanks for understanding, support and encouragement.  Together we will rise from this crisis and enter our future.

Sincerely,

Teresa Jordan
