ACCESSIBILITY STANDARDS FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

The customer service standard (Ontario Regulation 429/07, Accessibility Standards for Customer Service) is a mandated under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA). The standard requires that Community Living Trent Highlands policies, practices and procedures be guided by principles of dignity, independence and equality of opportunity. The training helps improve service delivery to people with disabilities who come from diverse backgrounds.

A disability is considered as “a condition which may restrict a person’s mental, sensory or mobility functions to undertake or perform a task in the same way as a person who does not have a disability. (Including, but not limited to arthritis, asthma, communication disabilities, diabetes, developmental disabilities, hearing loss, heart disease, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, low vision, mental health conditions, migraine, multiple sclerosis or being Deaf.”
